Rosemary Bailey - Feel Like Making Love (3:36)
Rosemary Bailey is a pipe organ virtuoso (click here for a photograph of a marquee billing her and jazz violinist Johnny Frigo) who has also recorded on the Hammond, and this is her surprisingly funky take on Eugene McDaniels' "Feel Like Makin' Love" (titled "Making" here), which was a huge hit for Roberta Flack in 1974.

UFO Encounters - Side 1 (23:06)
UFO Encounters - Side 2 (22:33)
UFO Encounters - Side 3 (21:50)
UFO Encounters - Side 4 (22:29)
I have had this 2LP set so long I can't recall how I got it, it may originally been made available through sc-fi mags but I'm not sure.
The listener is treated to a brief history of UFO sightings, what constitutes a UFO and close encounters as well as some great recordings of abductees under hypnosis! The inner gatefold is chock-full of photos and drawings of saucers, aliens and the witnesses. Why aren't there more investigations, WHY?!?!?

"In a way, 'The Twist' really ruined my life. I was on my way to becoming a big nightclub performer, and 'The Twist' just wiped it out. It got so out of proportion. No one ever believes I have talent." –Chubby Checker

A: The Rub (4:59)
B: Move It (4:42)
During my last used vinyl store run, I nearly killed myself going through every last 12" single they had in the racks. It was worth it, though, as I got some good stuff (like "Woodpeckers from Space" by Video Kids) including this Halloween-colored disco single by none other than Chubby Checker. I was slightly miffed at the $9 price tag... all I could think was, "Damn, this better be good. The E.T. Storybook ...

3. The Blind Kids - Track 3 (41:25)
4. The Blind Kids - Track 4 (1:41)
I first heard these tracks in Austin, Texas, back in the early 1990s. They were part of a series of recordings by some kids at the Texas School for the Blind and/or the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center, recorded with the assistance of members of Texas bands Crust and Cherubs, and distributed to friends on cassette. John Hawkins of Crust is the only person I am certain was involved, and all attempts to reach him have been futile. I've known John for many years, but from what I gather ...

Not a whole lot is known about Moe Barbari. One day this demo CD arrived in the PO Box of Vinyl Communications Records, a punk/experimental label run by my friend Bob Barley. It became an immediate smash hit with at least several of us! "Let Me Be Your Man" is the standout track. Strained Iranian vocals and crappy Roland general midi synth arrangements. What's not to like? ...

The Bordens - Theme From Star Wars (2:45)
You haven't truly heard the theme from Star Wars until you've heard it performed by Dryden, Ontario's The Bordens, with father George Borden (accordion), mom Jeanette (Electrovox organ), sons Roger (saxophone and guitar) and Gary (drums), and nephew Bill Dombradi (guitar). According to the liner notes, The Bordens played in "various parts of the country", including Thunder Bay and Edmonton, and recorded this album at Century 21 in Winnipeg. The snippets of other songs they throw into the mix, including the "snake charmer song", are just gravy. Good Times, indeed.

Nights of Love in Lesbos - Part 1 (20:11)
Nights of Love in Lesbos - Part 2 (19:20)
Remember snooping through your parents' Anais Nin and Xaviera Hollander books to find your first vintage erotica? Well, this sounds nothing like those.
Described as "a frankly intimate description of a sensuous girl's lesbian desires" it's really just a verse from "Songs of Bilitis" by Pierre Louÿs. Although not a lesbian himself, the French poet from two centuries ago is regarded for his favorable depictions of women, especially his lesbiana.
The flaccid female vocal talent, credited only as "Ilona", narrates the Sapphic sounds with heavy breath and audible smile. A flute-y score plays throughout, accompanied lightly by piano and sometimes a tambourine shake at ...
